Welcome to APUSH!  This will prove to

be an exciting and challenging year as we

explore American history beginning with

the days before the Age of Exploration and concluding with an analysis of 21st century issues such as globalism, the War on Terror and emerging social challenges.

College Board breaks our course down into nine distinct historical periods which begin in 1491 and ends with the present day.  The AP U.S. History Exam will test your understanding of the historical concepts covered in the course units, as well as your ability to analyze primary and secondary sources and identify patterns and connections that can support a historical interpretation.

The goal of this course is to prepare students not only for the AP Exam & college, but to provide valuable analytical and critical thinking skills which will serve students for the rest of their lives.  Crafting an argument, defending a thesis and learning to write critically are all fundamental to success in this course and beyond.

Students will explore political, social and economic history using both primary and secondary sources as we chart the course of our own history to better understand the present challenges we face today.  There is a lot to learn, but working together we are certain we can do it!
